United States presidential hopeful George W Bush has vowed to fight the spirit of isolationism in the Republican-led Senate that has plagued Bill Clinton.
In an exclusive interview with the BBC’s Washington correspondent, Paul Reynolds, Mr Bush said the United States “must not retreat within our borders”.
“As you know, there is a protectionist and isolationist sentiment in our country and I’m going to resist that sentiment madly because I believe that we can and must lead the world to peace.
“We can’t do it alone, though.”

Former President George W. Bush on Wednesday warned against an “isolationist tendency” in the U.S. that he called dangerous to national security, at a time when the current president has faced questions about its commitment to the country’s international partnerships.
The 43rd president was speaking at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, to promote his new book, “Portraits of Courage,” a volume of his paintings of military veterans.
Bush’s remarks come at a time when Europeans have been skittish that President Donald Trump may promote isolationist policies. Last month, Vice President Mike Pence reassured allies in Europe about the U.S. commitment to NATO and the country’s willingness to maintain its ties around the globe.
Bush, 70, said it was not his intent to criticize his successors at the White House and he is optimistic about the future. “I don’t want to make the President’s job worse,” he said.
But he also alluded to the Iraq War, and warned that there is a lesson “when the United States decides not to take the lead and withdraw,” an apparent critique of former President Barack Obama.
“Vacuums can be created when U.S. presence recedes and that vacuum is generally filed with people who don’t share the ideology, the same sense of human rights and human dignity and freedom that we do,” he added.
Bush echoed remarks he made earlier this week by saying he didn’t intend to criticize Trump when he said recently that a free press is essential to democracy. Trump has referred to the press as the “enemy of the people.” Bush said at the library the nation needed an independent press but added that it needs to be accurate. ~~
Now we know that at least 3 of the 4 past Administrations before President Trump were, ideology wise, in support of the what’s to become the European Union along with America’s version of the EU known as the North American Union that had been on the drawing board for 5 years before President Trump even came down that escalator to throw his hat in the ring! The one thing that escapes reasoning is why did our elected officials from both sides of the aisle feel that it wasn’t necessary to run their plans for America’s version of the ‘European Union’ known as the ‘American Union’ by the American taxpayer to get their approval in order to move forward with the plans for America and the American People moving into the future?
Did our elected officials understand that we are a nation of immigrants that came to America when it was an undeveloped land where building a civilization, that can’t be comparable to today’s illegal immigrants who are showing up in a post-industrial nation and signing up for benefits! This is a sham to undermine our Constitution and ‘Rule of Law’ to bend over backwards to flood our country with these unvetted illegal and unconstitutional immigrants and refugees, and then finding ways for them to vote illegally by using lies aimed at the American people by calling them racist, bigots, and all other adjectives that fit under Hillary’s ‘Deplorables,’ and the main reason why the 2020 election is America’s last chance to come together as one as Americans did during WWI and WWII when the American people were more than willing to come together without the added pressures of the intentional divide by using the Obama Administration’s political correctness, identity politics, and the implicit bias today that didn’t exist back in the days of my father’s Democrats but now used to prevent the American people from coming together as one to fight for America as one!
It’s not about the difference between the American people, but about what we all have in common, and if you can see yourself without the benefits given to every American Citizens by our founders, and if you believe the system isn’t working for you than you have options, but know this, the options that you’ll have by surrendering our sovereignty, and the Constitutionally guaranteed individual rights that you enjoy today, then know that if President Trump loses in 2020, then know that the list of those rights greatly will be greatly diminished, and because you don’t want to error on the side of caution for just 4 more years under President Trump making America first and great again, then I have to believe that you hate this President more than you love America!
The 4th Administration that I always mention when talking about how long this attempt to undermine our founder’s Constitutional Republic in exchange for the New World Order is the Obama Administration, who even though Obama is not a ‘Natural Born’ Citizen which under normal circumstances, and if we had an honest Congress who were actually doing their job by living up to their oath to protect and defend the constitution, then we would have never had this President Obama and his financial backers like George Soros and others! What’s worse is that these same elected officials gave themselves a raise by passing ‘Citizen’s United’ back in 2010 that allowed our elected officials to not only sell their votes to the highest bidder, but allowed American taxpayer dollars be rerouted from its intend Congressional purposes to being used by the Outside interest that have been and are today being fueled by the passage of ‘Citizens United’ back 2010 when the high court’s 5-4 decision said that it is OK for corporations and labor unions to spend as much as they want to convince people to vote for or against a candidate.

The biggest problem with our country today is that both sides of the aisles voted themselves a huge raise in 2010 with the passage of ‘Citizens United.’ What makes this worse is how the passage of this bill was bipartisan, which is one of the rare instances when they got together to do anything, and it wasn’t even being done for the American people but for the greedy and power hungry outside interests who bought the votes of the American people’s elected officials to do the complete opposite of what the ‘Will’ of the American people mandated to be done 3 years ago as a result of the 2016 election!
American’s taxpayer dollars seemed to have been rerouted from its intend Congressional purposes to being used by the Outside interest that have been and are today being fueled by the passage of ‘Citizens United’ back 2010 when the high court’s 5-4 decision said that it is OK for corporations and labor unions to spend as much as they want to convince people to vote for or against a candidate.
The decision did not affect contributions. It is still illegal for companies and labor unions to give money directly to candidates for federal office. The court said that because these funds were not being spent in coordination with a campaign, they “do not give rise to corruption or the appearance of corruption.”
So, if the decision was about spending, why has so much been written about contributions? Like seven and eight-figure donations from people like casino magnate and billionaire Sheldon Adelson who, with his family, has given about $40 million to so-called “super PACs,” formed in the wake of the decision?
Now enter foreign interest in American companies and the possible influence not by the Russians, but the likes of George Soros who has his fingers in just about everything that’s out to control the American People’s ‘Purse Strings’ to fund the New World Order’ that he and all the other corrupt and colluding participants envision, as Obama has tipped us all off already, occupying the offices of the United Nations, who have just came out recently to announce the fruition of the New World Order within the next 12 years! which has bribed our elected to turn not only against the Constitution and the oath they took to support, protect, and defend the Constitution, but also to ignore and bypass the ‘Will’ of the American people!
